• To prevent your lips from drying you can use a ground mixture or rose petals and milk butter.
• To delay age spots on your hand, use a piece of lemon and rub all over your hand, before washing. This will delay onset of age-spots.
• While blow drying and setting your hair, blow-dry at hot on the roots of the hair. Roll your hair inwards or outwards at the ends. To improve the setting make sure the ends are evenly rolled in or rolled out. Heat the hair for a second and then let it cool. This process of setting the hair will last longer and make your hair look beautiful.
• If you have no time to shampoo your hair before going out, then brush 1 tablespoon of talcum powder or corn flour through your hair. Try this out first when you are not in hurry to make sure that it works the way you want.
• To prevent hair loss you should have a biotin rich drink. Blend bananas with honey, yogurt and low fat milk. Drink this for a few weeks.
•  To condition your hair, after shampooing your hair take some conditioner on your palm and rub it with both hands. Apply from the hair shaft moving downwards. Do not apply on your scalp. Rinse your hair after 5 minutes.
• To add extra shine and glow to your hair add 2 tablespoons of malt vinegar. Use it as a last rinse and towel dry your hair.

When Apple first launched the iPhone in 2007, it was leaps and bounds ahead of its nearest rivals. But now the handset is a triumph of marketing over functionality. And it’s so ubiquitous it’s not even cool any more.

Here are ten reasons why, whatever is announced at the forthcoming launch, there’s no point buying the iPhone 4G:

1) It’s expensive: Buy the top-of-the-range Blackberry or Android handset and you will still pay a lot less than the extortionate prices Apple charge. If the iPhone weren’t made by Apple, networks would have had to start giving it away on £30 a month tariffs years ago.
2) It’s anti-technology: When the iPhone launched it was cutting edge – now as other manufacturers announce, for instance, that you can use their phones as shareable wifi hot spots, Apple says no. Not because of some spurious “user experience” argument, but because of economics. When will they learn that it’s customers – supply and demand – that should dictate feature availability?
3) No Flash: The iPhone, the phone that promised to put the web into everybody’s pockets, can’t even show you most of it, because it can’t handle Flash graphics. Google Android can, in the latest version (OS 2.2), and it’s going to be available free on a lot of budget tariffs.
4) No multitasking: Tried instant messaging on an iPhone? Oh yes, you have to open the app to see if you’ve got a message. Genius. If Apple announces multitasking next it will be an improvement – but there’ll be no apology for the way it’s treated customers in the past, and no guarantee it won’t behave similarly shoddily in the future.
5) Its battery life is terrible: This isn’t a problem unique to Apple, but look at phones by companies such as HTC – multitasking, better cameras, better screens, all draining their batteries far more – and yet the iPhone, with its undemanding technology, still only offers equal performance.
6) Developing apps for it is costing you money: The special version of the BBC iPlayer, of Natwest Phone Banking, of Eon’s meter reader – developing all of these came out of money that could have been channelled away from a self-important minority and towards more generally useful ideas.
7) It comes with offensively bad headphones: Sit next to somebody using the original iPhone or iPod headphones and you can hear everything they can. It’s another example of Apple charging premium prices, but delivering a dressed up, budget product.
8) It’s not very well designed: Use the iPhone as a phone and it’s not got great reception, nor is it particularly comfortable to use for long periods. It’s a computer that happens to have a phone bolted on – jack of two trades, but master of neither.
9) It charges for satnav: In an age when Nokia and Google Android provide completely free mapping and satnav facilities, the cheapest way you can turn your overpriced iPhone into a satnav is with a £19.99 app. Bargain.

A Minneapolis couple decided to go to Florida to thaw out during a particularly icy winter. They planned to stay at the same hotel where they spent their honeymoon 20 years earlier. Because of hectic schedules, it was difficult to coordinate their travel plans. So, the husband left Minnesota and flew to Florida on Thursday, with his wife flying down the following day.

The husband checked into the hotel. There was a computer in his room, so he decided to send an email to his wife. However, he accidentally left out one letter in her email address, and without realizing his error, sent the email.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Houston, a widow had just returned home from her husband's funeral. He was a minister who was called home to glory following a heart attack. The widow decided to check her email expecting messages from relatives and friends. After reading the first message, she screamed and fainted. The widow's son rushed into the room, found his mother on the floor, and saw the computer screen which read:

Unlimited space on Gmail - When will Google be offering this?

Google had launched Gmail with 1GB storage space which was "more than 100 times" what most other free webmail services offered - Gmail Press release. This generated a lot of excitement and to add that extra spice, Gmail email accounts were available only through special invitations from Google employees and current Gmail account holders - I wonder who had the first Gmail account - what is one of the founders... Sergey Brin or Larry Page?
Infinity+1 and unlimited space on Gmail

In the April of 2005, Google started increasing the storage space of Gmail accounts as part of their "Infinity+1" storage plan. And the inbox space has been increasing ever since. I have a little under 6GB at the time of writing and come January 4th 2008, 3.3MB will be added per day to the inbox and this is ten times higher than the present rate of increase in storage space - Gmail storage increases.

However, ever since the dramatic launch of Gmail, the competition has wizened, so to say. Presumably, they think it was the 1GB space offering that was Gmail's trump card and probably they are correct! Two of the main competitors - Yahoo! and AOL - have increased the storage space to unlimited.

So with competition providing unlimited storage space, when will Google be offering the same to Gmail users?
Probably never (though I would love to be proved wrong)! And here are my reasons:

    * Unlimited space doesn't exist
      If you combine all the hard disks in the world you will still get a real number so the unlimited term is misleading.
      Yes, if someone wants to utilize the "unlimited storage", I guess one would be allowed to if they potentially can!
    * Google's "Do No Evil" policy
      You will never get unlimited space on Gmail because it contradicts Google's all important "Do No Evil" policy. OK, using the word "unlimited" is not exactly evil but it is definitely wrong!
    * It's the features that would play a winning role
      Storage space was indeed an important factor at the time of Gmail launch, however, I suppose it would be the "features" and "ease of use" that would ultimately play an important role in this fight. Gmail still has great features and that too for free - POP3, IMAP, unobtrusive advertisements, preview of attachments, powerful search and spam detector.

Unlimited storage space is simply a marketing strategy

Based on the above three reasons, I don't think Google is much bothered about competition offering unlimited space. ORA-12170: TNS:Connect timeout occurred

If you are wondering why are you getting this error *and* all the following prerequisite conditions apply to you:

1. You are trying to connect to a remote database through the internet;
2. tnsping net_service_name is working telling you that the remote listener is up and running;
3. the remote database is running on a Windows platform;
4. server parameter USE_SHARED_SOCKET is not set or is set to FALSE;
5. your client is attempting to connect in dedicated server mode;
6. you get ORA-12170:TNS:Connect timeout occurred (or TNS-12170 on versions earlier than 10g), when you try to open a connection from SQL*Plus or from another client program;

then you might try setting USE_SHARED_SOCKET=TRUE and see if it works.
USE_SHARED_SOCKET can be either an environment variable or a windows registry value.
I preferred the former option and i defined it as a system variable, in My computer's properties/advanced tab/environmental variables.

If you look up ORA-12170 in the Oracle error message list for Oracle 10G, then you are confronted with an explanation where either network delays or a denial-of-service attacks are the most probable causes.
Well, in my humble opinion, is also very likely that you are trying to access a database behind a firewall and the only open port is 1521 (or a non-standard port if that's the case).

Opening port 1521 is not enough because the listener is only accepting initial requests through that port, but once the dedicated server process is started, the connection between client and server is moved to a different port, typically a randomly chosen port, if i am not wrong.

In view of this fact, you can't just open up all the ports of the firewall and here's where this USE_SHARED_SOCKET=TRUE comes in handy, because it forces the connection to occur on the same initial port.
